sometimes when promoting a show you use words like “epic” or “legendary”, but i promise you it’ll be a long time before i’ll mean those descriptives with anywhere near this amount of sincerity. on friday night, march 12th, the farside will be hosting LEATHERFACE, a british melodic punk band that began writing and playing music 22 years ago. leatherface was and is a pioneering force in punk music, heavily influencing bands such as HOT WATER MUSIC (responsible for encouraging leatherface out of retirement years ago), AVAIL, DILLINGER FOUR, et cetera.
leatherface relies on the gruff and intelligent lyrics of frankie stubbs, whose howls and coughed vocals seem to emanate from an unending and unimproving pit of despair and frustration deep inside of him. this is the type of show you will not want to miss if you’re a fan of punk music. fans of leatherface would maybe travel great distances to see the band play in a setting this intimate. if you haven’t heard leatherface yet, i’d suggest starting with 1991’s “mush”, which is essentially a perfect punk rock document and one of the best albums ive personally ever heard. seriously!
sorry for the prescript. here’s the details!:
